Know When to See an Emergency Dentist

Dental problems aren’t always predictable. Even the healthiest smile can suffer accidental trauma or unexpected pain. In fact, sudden pain or damage to your permanent teeth can be quite frightening. The good news is that an experienced dentist can typically fix your dental concern. However, knowing when to call an emergency dentist is up to you!

The Danger of Ignoring Dental Damage

If the discomfort doesn’t bring you to the dentist, perhaps it would help to understand what happens if you ignore tooth damage. When a cracked, chipped or broken tooth gets ignored, your tooth is left vulnerable to future harm. Bacteria and sugars can invade the inner portions of your tooth and cause a cavity or painful infection. The simple emergency dental repair you turned down could result in a dental filling, root canal or crown! In addition, dental pain that is left untreated often gets worse over time and can even impact neighboring teeth.

Call an Emergency Dentist for This

How do you know if your dental concern warrants emergency treatment? Here are some common concerns that warrant a trip to the dentist sooner rather than later:

  • A Broken Tooth
  • A Knocked-Out Tooth
  • Missing Filling or Crown
  • Persistent or Severe Toothache
  • Oral Bleeding
  • Dental Abscess (swelling/pain)

What to Look for in An Emergency Dentist

Dental emergencies are not always clear-cut. It is not uncommon for your emergency dental repair to involve a diverse approach from multiple dental specialties, including both restorative and cosmetic dental treatments. Therefore, it is important that you not only find an emergency dentist you can rely on for quick appointments, but also one that has a broad skill set and can repair your teeth in a way that restores both function and aesthetics.

Do you have an urgent dental problem? Not sure if your concern needs emergency dental care? Call Old Greenwich Dental. We are your top choice for comfortable, attentive and high-quality dental repair – even when you didn’t plan for it.

I strongly recommend OG Dental for those looking for a new dentist or looking to switch. The front desk ladies were very welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful with scheduling and finances. My hygienist, Leah, and Dr. Busch were both great at educating me in the procedures/treatment plan I need to have done and the reasons why. I hadn't been to the dentist in years and the quality of care and attention was excellent! This office is beautiful, modern and also family friendly!

Everyone is amazing and friendly! Dr. Busch is a normal down to earth guy. The front desk team is always on their game. Danielle is the best hygienist going. So happy I found this group.

I've been a patient of OGDA since 1988 and have been very pleased with the care I've gotten. The professionals and staff are all totally dedicated to the dental and overall health of their patients.

I have never been to a dental or medical office that was so welcoming and efficient my first visit went with ease. The receptionist knew who I was upon my entering the greeted me with the biggest smiles which was a great start. I then went on to meet the hygienist Kate who cleaned my teeth like never before she was very knowledgeable and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way, she then called the doctor in who was a really cool dude he spoke to me in dental language I can understand made sure before leaving I understood everything we discussed. I do need a few more visits, but I plan on now switching the rest of my family. Thank you Dr. Busch and Staff

It is rare to find a dentist who has excellent credentials, state of the art knowledge and equipment, and a responsive and caring staff. Dr. Busch and his support team accomplish this in an exemplary fashion. His care has been excellent in all ways. I would highly recommend his practice to anyone with dental issues.
