Specialized
Care For Your Children
Dr. Sing has special training as a Pedodontist (a dentist
who specializes in treating children) and is excited to work as an associate
with Old Greenwich Dental Associates. Dr. Sing brings with her a wealth of
knowledge and experience as well as a caring temperament, a warm smile, and
a special connection and appeal to children. Working with children takes a
special person, talent and drive. Dr. Sing strives to exemplify all of those
characteristics with every child she treats.
Dr. Sing enjoys being an active part of a community and is
currently associated with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the
American Dental Association, the Dental Society of New York, and the Nassau
County Dental Society and is looking forward to getting involved in the
Fairfield County/Greenwich Community as well.
Children In Our
Dental Practice
When should your child first see the dentist?
When their teeth first begin to show, around six months to a year.
We are lucky to live in a community where we are able to invest a great
deal in out children and their future. We have access to the best schools,
educational services, health care, cultures, cities, and other extra
curricular activities. Dr Busch says, "In my life I believe that family is very important
and I see the same feelings of importance with the families that enter our
practice. This is a great motivator for me as well as my entire staff
because our aim is to help families invest in their children's healthy
future."
Our intention as a dental office is to help children understand and
dismiss the stereotype that all dentists cause pain and anxiety. We take
great pride in the way we help guide them into great cavity free patients
for life and it may take two or three visits to our child friendly pediatric
wing, but we do it. Dr. Busch wears a dark blue smock instead of a white
coat because our society portrays doctors in white coats or scrubs and this
may cause anxiety for your child. So we try to paint a different picture and
make a valuable first impression.
We also have movies to watch during procedures along with stuffed
animals, and a "jungle mural" in the reception area to lighten the mood. We
have a very comfortable environment and all we ask of parents is to enter
our practice with an open mind regardless of their past dental experiences.
Children are very aware of their parent's feelings and if you show anxiety
then this may rub off on them. We ask that you take a positive approach with
your child so that they don't fear or act up in the appointment, which in
turn will help them become great healthy patients.
Advice From Dr. Busch For
Parents And Children
Use a damp washcloth or gauze to clean your
baby's gums even before the teeth begin to "peep" through the gums.
When teeth appear use an infant soft bristled
toothbrush. A small droplet of natural toothpaste may be used to provide
sufficient fluoride.
Some questions that we
frequently answer during the first dental visit.
Around what age do babies begin to teeth?
As a parent what should I keep an eye out
for?
How can I prevent "baby bottle tooth decay"?
Is thumb sucking a problem?
